This course will approach culturally relevant pedagogy as a way of teaching that draws on the cultural knowledge, backgrounds, and experiences of students to make the learning more meaningful and appropriate to support student achievement.

Demonstrate understanding of the kinds of knowledge that students bring to the classroom and how to incorporate and build on students’ strengths and cultural backgrounds during instruction.

Demonstrate an understanding of the role that culture plays in forming partnerships with ELLs and their families.
