Description

Educators will be able to define and describe implicit and explicit bias and identify how bias influences decisions, actions, and behaviors with students and families. Educators will also identify specific actions they can take to disrupt bias in their classrooms, schools, and districts.

This course is a part of the Diversity, Equity, and Cultural Competence (DECC) series. 

Objectives

At the completion of this lesson, you will...

  • Understand why we have bias

  • Recognize how explicit and implicit biases impact student learning and educational structures

  • Identify how to address your own explicit and implicit biases 

  • Utilize the NEA Racial Justice in Education Framework to address bias and promote racial justice in classrooms, schools, and districts
