Description

In this course, you will assess the quality of access and opportunity in community and family partnerships, then create an action plan to increase family and community engagement in your school or district.

This course is a part of the C.A.R.E. Series. The C.A.R.E. themes (Culture, Ability, Resilience, Effort) are instrumental in helping to close the Achievement Gaps and are supported in part by decisions made at the school and district level. These decisions are essential to sustaining the changes and improvements that the C.A.R.E. themes foster.

Objectives

In this course, you will:

  • Discover how opportunity gaps fuel achievement gaps, and how strong community partnerships can close them.

  • Engage with peers to explore the role of culture in students' learning experiences.

  • Learn how research supports strong community and parent engagement for student success.

  • Apply strategies to improve community and parent engagement at worksites.

  • Reflect on effectiveness and build next steps.
